What is the Security Code (CCV)?

The Security Code or CCV is a 3- or 4-digit number printed on your credit card to help prevent fraud. It is intended to verify that you have the card in your possession.

Where is the Security Code (CCV)?

For American Express, the 4-digit code is printed on the front of the card, above the number.

For Discover, Mastercard, and Visa, the 3-digit code is printed on the back of the card, the last group of numbers.
